Yes! It's a great value and it is Northwest Nazarene University policy that all designated Campus Residents purchase a meal plan each semester.
Flex Dollars are specific cash values included with all meal plans. They work like a pre-paid debit card with funds kept on your student ID card. Flex Dollars may be used for purchases at The Dex or The Bean.
They are carried over from the Fall to the Spring when a new meal plan is purchased in the Spring. However, they are not carried over from year to year.
Block meals may be used during the semester in which are purchased. They do not carry over from semester to semester.
Yes! Changing to a bigger or smaller meal plan can be done during the first week of school. All other changes must be requested by the Director of Residential Life at (208) 467-8643.
If you live off-campus, you can purchase an off campus meal plan.
Hawk Bucks are similar to Flex Dollars in that it is prepaid money that is loaded onto your ID card. However, Flex money is a fixed amount that you receive when you purchase a meal plan and does not roll over from year to year.
On the other hand, Hawk Bucks can be purchased at the register or online in any amount, at any time, as many times as needed. This money does roll over between semesters/years and stays on your account as long as it is active. You also get a bonus for purchasing Hawk Bucks so its best to buy in bulk, since you know you'll spend it anyway!
A $25-$49 Hawk Buck purchase gets a 5% bonus
A $50-$99 Hawk Buck purchase gets a 7% bonus
A $100+ Hawk Buck purchase gets a 10% bonus
